About The Artist

Susan Jones watches the process of machining aluminum house numbers in her Alberta shop.

Individual + industrial! Susan Jones of Modish Metal Art is creating custom aluminum products for the home, all made right here in Canada.

Susan's background as a designer springs from a combination of Interior Design and industrial machining. Graduating from Lakeland College in 1999 with an Interior Design diploma, Susan spent several years in the design world before making a career pivot to Leduc's oilfield industry, achieving her Journeyman Machinist status in 2009.

Meanwhile, Susan was experimenting with home decor design in her backyard shop. “I remember not being able to find a really cool doorbell for my house when I was renovating," says Susan. "I thought, ‘why don’t I just try making something?’"

Susan creates her designs in CAD and then programs them into her computer-controlled machine. Then the production process begins - from a solid bar of aluminum, through the machining, grinding, and finishing, to the final step of resin pouring. Every part of the production process is done in the Modish Metal Art shop in Leduc, Alberta, Canada.

"If you don't see what you want, I can probably make it for you," says Susan. Custom requests are always welcome, or visit us on social media to see the latest designs.
